The Ohio State Buckeyes seem to bolster their ranking with a solid performance against the Wildcats of Northwestern on Friday night. His touchdown pass against UNLV into a wide open receiver. His other matchups against Wisconsin Stanford, and Michigan State have been a tragedy with no touchdowns and 3 interceptions. He copes with a strong Ohio State secondary is going to be awfully interesting. The Buckeyes are 2nd in the FBS with just 234 yards allowed per game. Against this pass? Forget about it because Ohio State have contributed up just 152 yards per competition.
I think the angle of attack for Northwestern in this game is to try to play the ball ownership game by storing it on the floor. Its going to get awful if Johnson is coming to maneuver. A close game might balloon into a lead for Ohio State in a rush. Northwestern are going to keep it on the floor and hope for some breaks along the way. Their defense will have to set up favorable field position to hang about.
The protection of Northwestern is their strength, with only 318.8 yards allowed per game. They have not played an offense of the grade of Ohio State. Fields has long passed for 18 touchdowns and one interception using 283 rushing yards and 2 touchdowns. The Wildcats have not had to defend a QB anywhere.
Start looking for Northwestern to grab Ohio State sleepwalking early , but items will open up for the Buckeyes. The Northwestern crime isnt likely to have the ability to sustain drives, causing a drained defense and Fields conducting.
